TCC Welcomes 11 Interns from the Department of Industrial Arts
The TCC International Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET) has welcomed eleven students from the Department of Industrial Arts at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), marking the beginning of an industrial attachment programme designed to prepare the next generation of ceramics professionals.
The students have been assigned to the Applied Industrial Laboratory at TCC-CIMET, where they will undergo practical training and participate in hands-on activities throughout the period of their attachment.
Over the course of the programme, the interns will receive training spanning production, innovation and entrepreneurship; core pillars of TCC-CIMET’s operational philosophy. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice by exposing students to real-world projects, live production processes, and emerging technologies.
During the orientation session held to formally welcome the interns, Mr. Kenneth Donkor, a representative of the Centre, encouraged the students to take full advantage of the opportunity by engaging actively with professionals, asking questions, and exploring innovative ideas.
“You have become like a staff member; you are now part of us for the period of your internship. I encourage you to ask questions whenever you do not understand anything. If you also have ideas or projects you would like to execute and need support with, we are here to lend a helping hand,” he said.
Beyond technical training, the students are also expected to gain exposure to modern product development processes, professional workplace culture, teamwork, and industrial problem-solving skills.
The welcoming of this cohort reflects TCC-CIMET’s broader commitment to strengthening partnerships with academic departments and institutions across the country. Through such collaborations, the Centre continues to build a pipeline of skilled, innovative, and industry-ready young professionals, reinforcing its role as a hub for manufacturing, technology transfer, capacity building, and applied research.
At the end of the attachment period, the students are expected to deliver presentations on the projects and practical work they undertook during their time at the Applied Industrial Laboratory.
