TCC-CIMET and Whitefalls Energy Explore Clean Energy Transportation Initiative for KNUST

The TCC International Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET) has held a strategic meeting with Whitefalls Energy and Infrastructure to explore a proposed clean energy transportation system for the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The discussions focused on opportunities to advance the University's sustainability agenda through the deployment of clean energy infrastructure and electric mobility solutions. Central to the proposal is the development of a sustainable transportation system that aligns with KNUST's commitment to innovation, environmental stewardship, and climate resilience.

During the meeting, participants considered a phased implementation approach, with particular emphasis on prioritizing the electric mobility component as the initial phase while broader renewable energy infrastructure plans continue to be evaluated. The discussions also highlighted the need for comprehensive technical feasibility studies, infrastructure readiness assessments, and sound financial planning to ensure the long-term viability of the initiative.

Both teams agreed to undertake a detailed review of the proposal, refine the concept for the next phase, and continue technical engagements to determine the most practical pathway toward implementation.

If successfully implemented, the initiative has the potential to position KNUST as a leader in sustainable campus transportation in Ghana and the West African sub-region. It would also serve as a model for integrating clean energy technologies into university transportation systems while contributing to Ghana's broader sustainability and climate action objectives.

The meeting brought together the management teams of TCC-CIMET and Whitefalls Energy and Infrastructure. TCC-CIMET was represented by its Director-General, Prof. Francis Davis; the Director of Administration, Mr. Paul Pinaman Adade, who chaired the meeting; Dr. Rita Namoe Tabi; Dr. Oliver Kornyo,Ms. Rhoda Dufie Dwobeng; Mr. Kenneth Donkor; Dr. David Ato Quansah, Director of The Brew-Hammond Energy Centre, KNUST; and Mr. Makafui John Bedzra, SME Coordinator, who moderated the meeting.

Whitefalls Energy and Infrastructure was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kola Ogundeyin; Chief Finance Officer, Mr. Joseph Akwasi Agyei; Mrs. Atinuke Ogundeyin; Mr. Yaw Boadi; and Mr. Edward Brame.
