INSPIRING THE NEXT GENERATION OF ENGINEERS AT ARMED FORCES SHTS
As part of this year’s International Women in Engineering Day (June 23), the Technology Consultancy Centre – Centre for Innovation Manufacturing Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET), KNUST, in collaboration with Women in Engineering (WinE)- KNUST., proudly engaged students of Armed Forces Senior High Technical School in an outreach program that ignited minds, inspired dreams, and challenged stereotypes.
With the theme “Together, We Engineer,” the event celebrated not only the courage and creativity of women engineers today but also the limitless potential of the young girls in that very room our engineers of tomorrow.
Eric Opoku Osei (PhD), Director of Innovations at TCC-CIMET, delivered a rousing message:
“Engineering has no gender. Ghana needs your talent, your perspectives, and your drive to build solutions from sustainable energy to smarter cities. Your journey starts now.”
Speaking on behalf of the WiNE-GhIE President, Ing. Mercy Adomaa Besseah reaffirmed:
“True innovation happens when diverse voices come together. Engineering is more than a career; it’s a force for solving the world’s biggest challenges clean water, safe roads, resilient communities.”
Emmanuela Kwao-Boateng, PhD, Patron of WiNE-KNUST, offered a vital life lesson:
“Balance is key. Chase your engineering dreams but remember your wellbeing matters too. Plan well, live well, and succeed with purpose.”
Events like these are powerful reminders that representation matters. When young girls see women excelling in engineering, they believe they can too. Let’s keep opening doors, shattering ceilings, and engineering a future that’s inclusive, innovative, and impactful.
