Agricultural Engineering Students Successfully Complete Internship at TCC-CIMET Cookstove Lab

The first batch of interns from the Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, KNUST College of Engineering, have successfully completed their internship program at the Cookstove Laboratory (C-Lab) of the TCC International Centre for Innovation, Manufacturing, Technology Transfer, and Entrepreneurship (TCC-CIMET).

As part of their practical training, the students were divided into three groups and tasked with designing and developing cookstoves using locally available materials. This hands-on exercise allowed them to apply their engineering skills and creativity to address real-world challenges in clean cooking and energy efficiency.

Upon completing their prototypes, the groups presented their designs, testing processes, and findings to the TCC-CIMET team. Presentations highlighted innovative approaches, performance data, and recommendations for improving cookstove efficiency and usability.

The internship provided valuable exposure to applied research, fabrication techniques, and performance evaluation, while contributing to TCC-CIMET’s broader mission of promoting local innovation and sustainable technology solutions.

Mr. Kenneth Donkor, Supervisor of the interns and Head of the Cookstove Laboratory, commended the students for their dedication, teamwork, and hard work. He encouraged them to continue exploring innovative solutions to local challenges and emphasized that the Centre remains open for future collaboration and research engagements.

Also present at the presentation session were Mr. Anselm Kyeb, Ms. Rhoda Dufie Dwobeng (Junior Assistant Registrar), and Ms. Rita Namoe Tabi, who congratulated the students on their successful completion of the internship program.
