TCC-CIMET Hosts Second Batch of Interns for Practical Cookstove and Biomass Research

The second batch of students from the Agricultural Engineering Department at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology  have successfully completed their internship with TCC-CIMET, undertaking a practical, project-based assignment focused on clean energy innovation.

As part of the internship, the students were tasked to develop new cookstove ceramic liners and biomass briquettes. They were also to test the cookstoves thermal efficiencies using both charcoal and the new developed biomass briquettes as fuel. The project enabled them to apply engineering principles to real-world challenges in energy efficiency, sustainability, and household cooking solutions.

At the end of the internship, the students presented their findings to their supervisors, sharing insights from the design, fabrication, and performance testing stages.

Commending their efforts, Mr. Kenneth Donkor, Head of the Cookstove Laboratory at TCC-CIMET, praised the students for their commitment and performance. He further encouraged them to deepen their knowledge of cookstove technologies and efficiency standards, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning in advancing clean cooking solutions.

The internship reinforces TCC-CIMET’s commitment to experiential learning, technology transfer, and capacity building, while preparing the next generation of engineers to contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s clean energy and climate action agenda.
