The Livelihood Empowerment Initiative in Mining Communities is aligned with our mandate to promote STEAM and TVET education, contributing to national development. Set to take place in communities impoverished by irresponsible mining, this program aims to empower participants with practical, hands-on training in soap and body cream making, bead making, pastry making, and other skills, combining skills development with mentorship and interactive discussions.

Aligned with the theme, “Innovate, Create, Thrive: Skills for Community Empowerment,” participants nominated by the chiefs of the selected communities will learn innovative production techniques, explore value addition, and discover how simple engineering and creative principles can enhance local livelihoods. The program will also include advocacy sessions on responsible mining practices, educating participants on the environmental, social, and economic impacts of mining, and promoting strategies for sustainable and safe resource use.

By fostering practical skills, creativity, entrepreneurial thinking, and awareness of responsible mining, the initiative seeks to equip community members with sustainable skills that can be transformed into reliable sources of income, promote self-reliance, and inspire innovationdriven economic activities while encouraging environmental stewardship.
